JUDGE DENIES ADDITIONAL DELAY IN MARTINELLI EXTRADITION HABEUS CORPUS PROCEEDING

The US District Judge that heard ex-president Ricardo Martinelli's post-extradition order Habeus Corpus petition, and gave his counsel additional time to consider whether to file an appeal, has now denied a motion for an additional stay regarding enforcement of the order. While there is no right of appeal from the extradition order, Martinelli's attorneys can appeal the denial of the habeus petition.

The Court has given Martinelli until March 5th to seek a stay of enforcement of the extradition order from the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, which will require the filing of a Notice of Appeal.
